INTRODUCTION In its resolution 50/164 of 22 December 1995, the General Assembly requested that a progress report on the status of women in the Secretariat be submitted to the Commission on the Status of Women at its fortieth session.

40. In accordance with Council resolution 1993/16, the Secretary-General, in his capacity as ACC Chairman, arranged for the revision of the plan in the light of the results of the Fourth World Conference on Women. The draft revised plan was before the Commission on the Status of Women at its fortieth session (see E/CN.6/1996/CRP.2).
