In October 2012, the UNODC regional programme for Afghanistan and neighbouring countries organized a regional workshop on international cooperation in asset recovery for the countries of West and Central Asia in order to strengthen regional and international cooperation on asset recovery issues.

The UNODC regional programme for Afghanistan and neighbouring countries operates a programme to enhance cooperation among regional financial intelligence units (the " CASH initiative " ) for the eight countries of West and Central Asia.
