The representative replied that activities included obtaining data for reports to the Committee and the Organization of American States, as well as research on the impact of structural adjustment programmes on women, especially on single-headed households.

With regard to the question of the impact of structural adjustment programmes on economic and social development, the Economic and Social Council, at its substantive session of 1997, welcomed the decision of the Interim Committee of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to make the Enhanced Structural Adjustment Facility (ESAF) a permanent facility.
١٣ - وفيما يتعلق بمسألة أثر برامج التكيف الهيكلي على التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، رحب المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في دورته الموضوعية لعام ١٩٩٧ بقرار اللجنة المؤقتة التابعة لصندوق النقد الدولي والمتعلق بجعل مرفق التكيف الهيكلي المعزز مرفقا دائما.

All institutions of the system are also invited to cooperate with the United Nations in assessing the impact of structural adjustment programmes (Programme of Action, chap. V, para. 91).
