I would also like to extend my delegation's sincere appreciation to your predecessor for having successfully conducted our work during the sixty-first session, and we hope that it will not take another 61 years before another woman is re-elected as Chairperson.
وأود أيضاً أن أعرب عن خالص تقدير وفدي لسلفكم على إدارة أعمالنا خلال الدورة الحادية والستين بنجاح، ونأمل ألا يستغرق الأمر 61 سنة أخرى قبل أن تنتخب امرأة كرئيس مرة ثانية.

I do hope that the delegations concerned will convey to them our deep appreciation of the valuable contribution which they made to our work during their tenure. We wish them every success and happiness in their new assignments.

Many of the key elements for effective mine action and assistance in mine action are reflected in the Secretary-General's report, which will help to guide our work during the several years ahead.

As I informed you at the beginning of this meeting, I shall now take up for decision the request for participation in our work during 1997 received from the United Republic of Tanzania.

I also pay tribute to his predecessor, Mr. Theo-Ben Gurirab, the esteemed Foreign Minister of Namibia, for the skilful manner in which he guided our work during a busy year.

Once we have exhausted the list of speakers, I intend to put forward for decision of the Conference requests from Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Jordan and Swaziland to participate, as observers, in our work during the year of 1997.
وبمجرد الانتهاء من قائمة المتحدثين، أعتزم أن أقدم للمؤتمر الطلبات الواردة من المملكة العربية السعودية والفلبين واﻷردن وسوازيلند من أجل أن تشترك هذه الدول في أعمالنا خلال عام ٧٩٩١ بصفة مراقب، وذلك كي يتخذ المؤتمر قرارا بشأنها.

His untiring efforts in relation to the rationalization of the Committee's work are already yielding fruit — in the pattern of the debate and structure of our work during the current session.

When I was visiting delegations in Geneva at the end of August, several suggested that we should try to wrap up our work during the month of October.
وحين كنت أزور الوفود في جنيف في أواخر آب/ أغسطس، اقترح العديد منها أنّه ينبغي لنا أن نختتم أعمالنا خلال شهر تشرين الأول/أكتوبر.

That set the pace and direction of much of our work over the past few months.

In conclusion, I would like once again to emphasize the usefulness of this report and its consolidated and forward-looking approach, which will help us set the parameters to guide our work at the fifty-first session of the General Assembly.
وفي نهاية كلمتي أود مرة أخرى أن أنوه بفائدة هذا التقرير الذي يتيح نهجه التجميعي والتطلعي تحديد علامات على الطريق سوف ترشد أعمالنا خلال الدورة الحادية والخمسين للجمعية العامة.

I also wish to express my delegation's appreciation and gratitude for the exquisite work of his predecessor, Mr. Joseph Deiss, who so skilfully guided our proceedings during the sixty-fifth session.
وأود أيضا أن أعرب عن تقدير وفد بلدي وامتنانه للعمل الرائع الذي قام به سلفه، معالي السيد جوزيف ديس،الذي قاد بمنتهى المهارة أعمالنا خلال الدورة الخامسة والستين.
