3. One of the purposes of the United Nations is to achieve international cooperation in promoting and encouraging respect for human rights. The important role of such international cooperation has also been recognized in international human rights instruments adopted since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
٣ - أحد أغراض اﻷمم المتحدة هو تحقيق تعاون دولي في تعزيز وتشجيع احترام حقوق اﻹنسان وقد اعترف أيضا بهذا الدور الهام للتعاون الدولي في الصكوك الدولية لحقوق اﻹنسان التي اعتمدت منذ صدور اﻹعلان العالمي لحقوق اﻹنسان.

The Charter of the United Nations, in its Article 1, paragraph 3, mentions as one of the purposes of the United Nations “To achieve international cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural or humanitarian character, and in promoting respect for human rights and for fundamental freedoms”.
ويشير ميثاق اﻷمم المتحدة، في الفقرة ٣ من المادة ١، إلى أن أحد أغراض اﻷمم المتحدة هو " تحقيق التعاون الدولي على حل المسائل الدولية ذات الصبغة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية واﻹنسانية وعلى تعزيز احترام حقوق اﻹنسان والحريات اﻷساسية " .

" إذ تشير إلى أحكام ميثاق اﻷمم المتحدة بشأن الحقوق المتساوية وحق الشعوب في تقرير المصير، وتسوية المنازعات بالطرق السلمية، وواجب الدول اﻷعضاء بأن تمتنع في علاقاتها الدولية عن استخدام القوة أو التهديد باستخدام القوة ضد سلامة أراضي أي دولة أو استقلالها السياسي، أو بأي شكل آخر يخالف أغراض اﻷمم المتحدة " .
