68. Concerning the issue of elimination of extremism phenomenon the delegation informed that in 2008 the number of registered crimes related to extremism increased, which was caused inter alia by improvement in police work.

266. Turning to the issue of standing invitation to human rights special procedures, the delegation indicated that requests for an invitation by special procedures were considered on a case-by-case basis.
266- أما فيما يتعلق بتوجيه دعوة دائمة إلى الإجراءات الخاصة لحقوق الإنسان، فقد أفاد الوفد بأن طلبات تلقي دعوات من الإجراءات الخاصة تُفحص كل طلب على حدة.

16. With regard to workers, the delegation stated that Bahrain has issued a series of new laws.
16- وفيما يتعلق بالعمال، أفاد الوفد بأن البحرين أصدرت سلسلة من القوانين الجديدة.

52. Concerning female domestic workers, the delegation stated that Bahrain had enacted a law to protect the rights of this category of workers.

9. With regard to the challenges facing Iran, the delegation stated that its human rights situation had consistently been used by some Western countries to apply political pressure and advance ulterior political motives.

Regarding instances in customary laws where women are marginalized, the delegation reported that the Constitution provided for ownership of land by women regardless of their marital status.
وبخصوص حالات في القانون العرفي تتعرض فيها المرأة للتهميش، أفاد الوفد بأن الدستور ينص على ملكية المرأة للأراضي بصرف النظر عن حالتها الزوجية.

21. Regarding the murder of nine journalists, the delegation reported that the evidence resulting from the investigations relating to two cases had been presented in court and that the investigations relating to two other cases were being completed.
21- وفيما يتعلق بجرائم قتل تسعة صحفيين، أفاد الوفد بأن الأدلة التي كشفت عنها التحقيقات المتصلة بقضيتين قد قُدمت إلى المحاكم وأن التحقيقات المتصلة بقضيتين أخريين يجري حالياً استكمالها.

21. In response to questions regarding the national human rights institutions the delegation reported that the application process for the accreditation of the office of the Parliamentary Commission by the International Coordinating Committee had started.
21- وردّاً على الأسئلة المتعلقة بالمؤسسات الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان، أفاد الوفد بأن عملية تقديم طلب اعتماد مكتب اللجنة البرلمانية إلى لجنة التنسيق الدولية قد بدأت.

27. As to measures to combat human trafficking, the delegation reported that human trafficking was criminalized and forced labour linked to trafficking was addressed by the legal provisions on human trafficking.
27- وبخصوص التدابير الرامية إلى مكافحة الاتجار بالأشخاص، أفاد الوفد بأن الأحكام القانونية المتعلقة بالاتجار بالأشخاص تجرِّمه وتعالج مشكل السخرة المرتبط به.

With regard to good practices in the police of having a body which will check the compliance of the police with human rights, the delegation noted that the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights wants to set up an office within the Ministry of the Interior and the police in this regard in order to generate a culture within the police to respect human rights.
وفيما يتعلق بوجود جهاز لمراقبة امتثال الشرطة للممارسات الجيدة لحقوق الإنسان، أفاد الوفد بأن وزارة العدل وحقوق الإنسان ستنشئ مكتباً بوزارة الداخلية والشرطة لنشر الثقافة العامة لحقوق الإنسان بالشرطة.

66. Concerning the issue of death of journalists and violence against human rights defenders the delegation informed that since 2004 the law on the state protection of participants of the criminal procedures has been enacted.
66- وفيما يتعلق بقضية وفاة الصحفيين والعنف ضد المدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان، أفاد الوفد بأن قانون حماية الدولة للمشتركين في الإجراءات القانونية قد سُن منذ عام 2004.

On the question by Brazil concerning the electronic surveillance system, the delegation informed that the law which creates the possibility of short-term sentences being served outside prisons with the convict subject to electronic surveillance was adopted in 2007 and will come into force on 1 July 2008.
ورداً على السؤال الذي طرحته البرازيل فيما يتعلق بنظام الرصد الإلكتروني، أفاد الوفد بأن القانون الذي ينص على إمكانية قضاء العقوبات القصيرة المدة خارج السجون مع إخضاع المُدان للمراقبة الإلكترونية قد اعتُمِد في عام 2007 وسيبدأ نفاذه في 1 تموز/يوليه 2008.

270. Regarding national service, underage military conscription and torture, the delegation indicated that these recommendations did not enjoy the support of Eritrea.
