He added that torture was widespread in Afghanistan, and that the authorities were unable to protect the population from the Taliban's violence.
وأضاف أن التعذيب متفشٍّ في أفغانستان وأن السلطات عاجزة عن حماية السكان من عنف الطالبان.

Such a strategy must always be guided primarily by the interests of the people of Afghanistan and have as its foremost goal the creation of a self-sustaining nation.

It is time for the international community to reconfirm its commitment to Afghanistan and to move expeditiously to consolidate the accomplishments of the last six years.
وقد حان الوقت ليؤكد المجتمع الدولي من جديد التزامه تجاه أفغانستان وأن يعجّل بتعزيز الإنجازات التي تحققت في السنوات الست الماضية.

The Commission invited the Special Rapporteur on violence against women to continue to review the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan and to submit a report to the General Assembly and the Commission.
ودعت اللجنة المقررة الخاصة المعنية بالعنف ضد المرأة إلى أن تواصل استعراض الأوضاع الخاصة بالنساء والفتيات في أفغانستان وأن تقدم تقريرا إلى الجمعية العامة وإلى اللجنة.

6. Requests the Secretary-General to continue to review the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan and to submit to the Commission on the Status of Women at its fiftieth session a report on progress made in the implementation of the present resolution.
6 - يطلب إلى الأمين العام أن يواصل استعراض حالة المرأة والفتاة في أفغانستان وأن يقــدم إلى لجنــة وضــع المــرأة فــي دورتهــا الخمسين تقريــرا عــن التقدم المحرز في تنفيذ هذا القرار.

7. Urges States to continue to give special attention to the promotion and protection of the human rights of women in Afghanistan and to mainstream a gender perspective in all aspects of their policies and actions related to Afghanistan;
7 - يحث الدول على أن تواصل إيلاء اهتمام خاص لتعزيز وحماية حقوق الإنسان للمرأة في أفغانستان وأن تعمم المنظور الجنساني في جميع جوانب سياساتها وإجراءاتها المتصلة بأفغانستان؛

14. Requests the Secretary-General to continue to review the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan and to submit to the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-fifth session a report on progress made in the implementation of the present resolution.

The authorities also stated that it had been proved that one of the three suspects was in Afghanistan and that there were indications that another might have gone to Kenya and that the third might have been killed.

It is clear that these circumstances represent the single greatest obstacle to stability and progress in Afghanistan and that, if allowed to continue, they threaten to undo the progress made over nearly three years.
