وأعرب المجلس عن قلقه البالغ إزاء الحالة الأمنية في أفغانستان، وشدد على ضرورة مواصلة التصدي للخطر الذي يتهدد أمن أفغانستان واستقرارها المتمثل في حركة الطالبان وتنظيم القاعدة والجماعات المسلحة غير المشروعة والمجرمين الضالعين في تجارة المخدرات، وفي تسريب السلائف الكيميائية.

This action, taken a day before the International Conference in Support of Afghanistan was to be held in Paris, underlined the unanimity of the international community to fight against the scourge of illicit drugs, especially with regard to the security and stability of Afghanistan.

The conference also reaffirmed that the human rights and fundamental freedoms, including women's rights, enshrined in the Afghan Constitution and a thriving civil society are key to this transformation and to the success and stability of Afghanistan in the future.

Calls upon the Afghan Government, with the assistance of the international community, including the Operation Enduring Freedom coalition and the International Security Assistance Force, in accordance with their respective designated responsibilities as they evolve, to continue to address the threat to the security and stability of Afghanistan posed by the Taliban, Al-Qaida, other extremist groups and criminal activities;
