2. The Executive Director of UNEP was also requested, in paragraph 5 of decision 22/1 I A, to facilitate, following the issuance of the synthesis report, an intergovernmental consultation in preparation for the eighth special session of the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum.
2 - وطُلب إلى المدير التنفيذي لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة أيضاً في الفقرة 5 من المقرر 22/1 أولاً ألف أن يقوم، بعد إصدار التقرير التجميعي، بتيسير مشاورات حكومية دولية تحضيراً للدورة الاستثنائية الثامنة لمجلس الإدارة/المنتدى البيئي الوزاري العالمي.

21. Pursuant to paragraph 5 of Governing Council decision 22/1 I A of 7 February 2003, on strengthening the scientific base of UNEP, both intergovernmental and interagency consultations on this issue were held in Nairobi in January 2004.
21 - ومتابعةً لأحكام الفقرة 5 من مقرر مجلس الإدارة 22/1 أولاً ألف المؤرخ 7 شباط/فبراير 2003، المتعلق بتعزيز القاعدة العلمية لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة، عقدت حول هذا الموضوع مشاورات مشتركة بين الوكالات وبين الحكومات الدولية كذلك في نيروبي في كانون الثاني/يناير 2004.

Paragraph 4 of decision 22/1 I A requests that all submissions be made publicly available; this was done on the UNEP web site http://science.unep.org in early December.
وتطلب الفقرة 4 من المقرر 22/1 أولاً (ألف) أن تكون الورقات المقدمة متوافرة للجميع، وقد تم ذلك على العنوان الشبكي لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة http://science.unep.org وذلك في أوائل كانون الأول/ديسمبر.

In accordance with paragraph 7 of section I A of General Assembly resolution 56/206 of 21 December 2001, the Governing Council will adopt the report on the work of its twenty-fourth session for submission to the General Assembly through the Economic and Social Council.

Recalling also the Malmö Ministerial Declaration of 31 May 2000 and its decisions SS.VII/1 of 15 February 2002, 22/1 I A and 22/17 I of 7 February 2003 and SS.VIII/1 of 31 March 2004,

The participants considered the synthesis report on strengthening the scientific base of UNEP (Science Initiative), which synthesized responses to Governing Council decision 22/1 I A, and held in-depth discussions on those issues.
ونظر المشاركون في التقرير التجميعي(20) بشأن تعزيز القاعدة العلمية لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة (المبادرة العلمية)، الذي عمل على تجميع الاستجابات لمقرر مجلس الإدارة 22/1 أولاً (ألف) وأجروا مناقشات متعمقة بشأن هذه القضايا.

The Governing Council, in decision 22/1 I A, invited Governments, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations and scientific institutions to submit their views on three questions and eight considerations relating to the assessment of the environment and environmental change and the work of UNEP and other organizations in this area.

In order to facilitate the process, UNEP developed an optional web-based questionnaire to help respondents in making their submissions, assist in the analysis and synthesis of responses, and facilitate making the submissions publicly available, as requested in paragraph 4 of decision 22/1 I A. The webbased questionnaire is available at http://science.unep.org, as are all the relevant background documents and responses received.

Paragraph 4 of decision 22/1 I A also requested the Executive Director of UNEP to prepare a synthesis report for the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum at its eighth special session.
22 - طلبت الفقرة 4 من المقرر 22/1 أولاً (ألف) من المدير التنفيذي لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة أن يعد تقريراً تجميعياً لعرضه على مجلس الإدارة/المنتدى البيئي الوزاري العالمي في دورته الاستثنائية الثامنة.

At its twenty-second session, held from 3 to 7 February 2003, the UNEP Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum decided to initiate those considerations through a consultative process on strengthening the scientific base of UNEP (Governing Council decision 22/1 I A).
وقد قرر مجلس الإدارة/المنتدى البيئي الوزاري العالمي في دورته الثانية والعشرين المعقودة في الفترة من 3 إلى 7 شباط/فبراير 2003، استحداث هذه الاعتبارات من خلال عملية تشاورية بشأن تعزيز القاعدة العلمية لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة (مقرر مجلس الإدارة 22/1 أولاً (ألف)).

2. Recalling also the consultations on funding mechanisms held on 30 November 2001, in application of the decision reached at the Standing Committee's twenty-first meeting (A/AC.96/956 Annex I/A);
