5. At the opening meeting (1229th) of the fortyfifth session, held on 21 May 2007, four new members of the Committee made their solemn declaration: Ms. Agnes Akosua Aidoo (Ghana), Mr. Luigi Citarella (Italy), Ms. Maria Herczog (Hungary) and Mr. Dainius Puras (Lithuania).

27. Ms. Aido (Spain) said that in the context of the social dialogue between the Government and the labour and business sectors, a unit had been created to monitor implementation of the law on effective equality between women and men.

Ms. Aido (Spain), replying to questions regarding inter-ministerial coordination, coordination with the autonomous communities and monitoring of their compliance with the Convention, said that the Organic Law on effective equality had created a number of mechanisms and tools to guarantee mainstreaming of the gender approach.
