32. In May 2008, Central American and Dominican Republic ministries of education and other national authorities approved the Regional Strategic Framework for Education on Disaster Risk Reduction to regulate the education sector throughout Central America and the Dominican Republic.

The objective of ECA's work under this subprogramme is to improve the production, dissemination and use of key demographic, social, economic and environmental statistics, including the MDG indicators, in accordance with internationally agreed standards and good practice, and in order to promote the implementation of the new Reference Regional Strategic Framework for Statistical Capacity-building in Africa.

A lead will be taken in the implementation of the new Reference Regional Strategic Framework for Statistical Capacity-building in Africa and in the provision of adequate support to countries to design, adopt and implement their national strategy for the development of statistics.
وسيجري القيام بدور الرائد في تنفيذ " إطار العمل الاستراتيجي الإقليمي المرجعي (الجديد) لبناء القدرات الإحصائية في أفريقيا " ، وتوفير الدعم الملائم للبلدان لكي يصمم كل منها استراتيجيته الوطنية للتنمية الإحصائية ويعتمدها وينفذها.

With the implementation of the Reference Regional Strategic Framework for Statistical Capacity-building in Africa, the subprogramme will coordinate and cooperate with United Nations entities; the African Union Commission; AfDB; regional and intergovernmental organizations; and the relevant international organizations, including the United Nations Statistics Division, the Department of Economic and Social Affairs and UNDP.

The African Statistical Coordination Committee which brings together the African Development Bank (ADB), the African Union Commission (AUC), the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and ECA will have to play an active role in enhancing statistical coordination in the region and within the Reference Regional Strategic Framework for Statistical Capacity Building (RRSF) for which ECA provides the Secretariat.
