It is a source of pride for us that Iraqi Kurdistan has become a model for democratic experience, rehabilitation and economic, cultural and social development, just as it was a fortress for free Iraqis in their struggle against dictatorship.

46. With respect to the Civil Code in the Iraqi Kurdistan region, an amendment concerning early marriage was approved, signalling a response to public opinion in the Region. The amendment is consistent with the Convention and the Protocol, providing as it does that:

223. The Government of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has taken steps and legal measures to curb the phenomenon, which is considered a crime and treated pursuant to article 412 of the Penal Code, concerning wilful wounding, beating and assault. According to this article:
223- اتخذت حكومة إقليم كردستان العراق العديد من الإجراءات والتشريعات القانونية للحد من هذه الظاهرة حيث تم اعتبارها جريمة تعامل على وفق المادة 412 عقوبات التي تتعلق بالجرح والضرب والإيذاء العمد حيث نصت هذه المادة على الآتي:

237. Numerous families belonging to minorities were subjected to forced displacement and migration as a result of the unstable security situation in hot spots such as the governorates of Baghdad and Mosul. Some of them found temporary refuge outside Iraq in neighbouring countries such as Syria and Jordan and others went to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and other safe areas.
237- تعرض العديد من عوائل الأقليات إلى عمليات نزوح وتهجير قسري نتيجة الأوضاع الأمنية غير المستقرة في المناطق الساخنة لا سيما في محافظتي بغداد والموصل، فالبعض منهم وجد ملاذاً آمناً خارج العراق في دول الانتظار مثل سوريا والأردن والبعض الآخر توجه نحو إقليم كردستان العراق وغيرها من المناطق الآمنة.

18. During the reporting period, Turkish armed forces carried out several military operations, including aerial bombing and artillery shelling, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq against the Kurdistan Workers Party armed group in response to its terrorist activities.
18 - وخلال الفترة المشمولة بالتقرير، قامت القوات المسلحة التركية بعمليات عسكرية عدة، بما في ذلك القصف الجوي والقصف المدفعي في إقليم كردستان العراق ضد مجموعة مسلحة تنتمي لحزب العمال الكردستاني ردا على أنشطتها الإرهابية.

23. During the reporting period, the Turkish armed forces intensified their military operations, including aerial bombing and artillery shelling, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq against the Kurdistan Workers Party in response to its cross-border terrorist attacks.

45. The Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has received support and assistance from a number of donor organizations and countries, including UNICEF, UNESCO, the World Bank and USAID, to develop the skills, capacities and aptitudes of its personnel.
45- أما وزارة التربية في إقليم كردستان العراق فأنها تلقت دعم ومساعدات من عدة منظمات ودول مانحة ومنها (اليونيسيف، اليونسكو، البنك الدولي، ومساعدات الشعب الأمريكي USAID) في مجالات تطوير الكفاءات والقدرات والقابليات لمنتسبي وزارة التربية.

180. In the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the proportion of the population enjoying access to potable water amounts to 92 per cent in the main provincial cities of Arbil, Dahuk and Sulaymaniyah and 60 per cent in the outlying areas. A total daily volume of about 924,600 m3 of potable water is produced for distribution among the Region's governorates.
180- أما فيما يخص منطقة إقليم كردستان العراق فإن نسبة المخدومين من المياه الصالحة للشرب تبلغ (92 في المائة) في مركز المحافظة موزعة على محافظات (إربيل، دهوك، السليمانية) ونسبة (60 في المائة) من المخدومين في أطراف المحافظات حيث تقدر نسبة المياه المنتجة الصالحة للشرب ب(924.600م3) يومياً موزعة على محافظات الإقليم.
