13. Mr. NAQVI (Pakistan), referring to sub-item (c), said that decentralization was a way of fulfilling one of the basic aims and purposes of the Organization.

27. With regard to sub-item (c), he said that the memorandum of understanding signed between UNIDO and UNDP establishing the basis for joint technical cooperation programmes, particularly in support of private sector activities, should be implemented in a gradual manner within available UNIDO resources.
27- وأشار إلى البند الفرعي (ج) وقال إن مذكرة التفاهم الموقّعة بين اليونيدو وبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي، والتي أرست الأساس لبرامج التعاون التقني المشترك، خصوصا في دعم أنشطة القطاع الخاص، ينبغي تنفيذها بطريقة تدريجية في إطار الموارد المتاحة لليونيدو.

32. With regard to sub-item (b), he said that his delegation supported and appreciated UNIDO's efforts to restore productive capacities in 14 countries, including his own.
32- وأشار إلى البند الفرعي (ب) وقال إن وفد بلده يؤيّد ويقدّر جهود اليونيدو الرامية إلى إنعاش القدرات الإنتاجية في 14 بلدا بما في ذلك بلده.

Ms. HIROSE (Managing Director, Programme Coordination and Field Operations Division), referring to sub-item (a), stressed the Organization's commitment to enhancing South-South cooperation activities, mobilizing partners and fostering partnerships among all countries, developed and developing, with a view to achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

92. Turning to sub-item (c) on decentralization, she said that UNIDO Desk officers would report to the United Nations resident representatives on daily management issues, but substantive issues would be in the hands of UNIDO.
92- وانتقلت إلى البند الفرعي (ج) حول اللامركزية، وقالت ان موظفي مكاتب اليونيدو المقترحة سيقدمون تقارير إلى ممثلي الأمم المتحدة المقيمين بشأن المسائل الادارية اليومية؛ أما المسائل الفنية فستبقى في أيدي اليونيدو.

I would like now to turn to sub-item (c) of agenda item 73, " Strengthening of international cooperation and coordination of efforts to study, mitigate and minimize the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster " .

Turning to sub-item (p), on cooperation between the United Nations and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Azerbaijan believes that the determination of the United Nations and OIC to further strengthen existing cooperation, by developing specific proposals in designated priority areas is crucial.
وانتقالاً إلى البند الفرعي (ع) عن التعاون بين الأمم المتحدة ومنظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي، ترى أذربيجان أن تصميم الأمم المتحدة ومنظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي على مواصلة تعزيز التعاون القائم بينهما، بإعداد مقترحات محددة في بعض المجالات المعينة ذات الأولوية من الأهمية بمكان.

Referring to sub-item (f), he said that Japan recognized the merits of the introduction of IPSAS to improve the quality and coherence of accounting services in the United Nations system.
49- وأشار إلى البند الفرعي (و)، فقال إن اليابان تسلم بمزايا اعتماد المعايير المحاسبية الدولية للقطاع العام من أجل تحسين جودة واتساق خدمات المحاسبة في منظومة الأمم المتحدة.

Turning to sub-item (f) on accounting standards, he welcomed Member States' positive comments about the proposal to adopt the IPSAS.
54- وإذ انتقل إلى البند الفرعي (و) بشأن المعايير المحسابيّة، رحّب بالتعليقات الإيجابية من الدول الأعضاء على المقترح باعتماد المعايير المحاسبية الدولية للقطاع العام.

4. Referring also to sub-item 54 (a), she noted that the Group of 77 and China had consistently called for simultaneous action to address the challenges relating to all three pillars of sustainable development in a coordinated, integrated and balanced manner.

44. Referring to the sub-item " Business and development " , he said that his Government recognized the important role that development of the business sector played in the overall economic and social development of a developing economy.
