78. The school year started, albeit haltingly, on 24 October 2011 in Côte d'Ivoire, but many students had difficulty returning to school after the post-election violence that had disrupted classes for several months in a number of schools.

19. In its previous concluding observations (CEDAW/C/KEN/CO/6, para. 34), the Committee recommended that the State party strengthen the implementation of re-entry policies so that girls return to school after giving birth.

It also recommends that the State party prioritize efforts to improve the literacy level of girls and women, ensure equal access of girls and young women to all levels of education, retain girls in school and strengthen the implementation of re-entry policies providing for girls to return to school after pregnancy.

The Committee commends the State party on its plans to introduce free secondary education in 2008 and recommends that the State party implement measures to ensure equal access of girls and women to all levels of education, retain girls in school and strengthen the implementation of re-entry policies so that girls return to school after giving birth.
وتشيد اللجنة بالدولة الطرف لما وضعته من خطط لإدخال نظام التعليم الثانوي المجاني في عام 2008، وتوصي بأن تنفذ الدولة الطرف تدابير لضمان المساواة للفتيات والمرأة في الحصول على التعليم بجميع مراحله، واستبقاء الفتيات في المدارس وتعزيز تنفيذ سياسات معاودة الالتحاق حتى يتسنى للفتيات العودة إلى المدارس بعد الولادة.

42. At the level of schools in general, the monitoring of pregnant students that temporarily suspend school enrolment due to pregnancy was strengthened, in order to improve the conditions of teaching and learning, and also to increase their level of return to schools, following birth, and ensure their academic success.
42 - وعلى صعيد المدارس بوجه عام، جرى تعزيز مراقبة الطالبات الحوامل اللواتي يوقفن التحاقهن بالمدرسة مؤقتا بسبب الحمل، وذلك من أجل تحسين ظروف التدريس والتعلم، وأيضا لزيادة أعداد العائدات منهن إلى المدارس بعد الولادة، وضمان نجاحهن الأكاديمي.
