I refer to my report of 5 May 1999 on the question of East Timor (S/1999/513) and to Security Council resolution 1236 (1999) of 7 May 1999, by which the Council inter alia, welcomed the Agreements concluded by Indonesia, Portugal and the United Nations on the question and my intention to establish as soon as practicable a United Nations presence in East Timor with a view to assisting in the implementation of these Agreements.
