25. This chapter contains an account by the Special Rapporteur of his visit to the Republic of South Africa from 20 to 30 October 1996, in response to an invitation from the South African Government.

In the same vein, on behalf of the Government of the Union of the Comoros, I pay a well-deserved tribute to the Republic of South Africa for its ongoing support for the Comoros and for having successfully coordinated the efforts of the African Union and of regional countries to achieve national reconciliation in my country.

Today, Friday 12 April 2013, H.E. the President of the Republic of the Sudan, Mr. Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to the Republic of South Sudan at the kind invitation of H.E. General Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan.
قام السيد رئيس جمهورية السودان فخامة المشير عمر حسن أحمد البشير بزيارة رسمية إلى جمهورية جنوب السودان اليوم الجمعة 12 نيسان/أبريل 2013 على رأس وفد رفيع المستوى تلبية لدعوة كريمة من فخامة الفريق أول سلفا كير ميارديت رئيس جمهورية جنوب السودان.

Notably, the Mission also provided valuable support to the Republic of South Sudan throughout the intercommunal violence in Jonglei state in December and January 2011 and subsequently provided strong logistical support to the Presidential Committee for Peace, Reconciliation and Tolerance in Jonglei.

77. At its 50th meeting, on 29 July, the Council had before it a draft resolution entitled " Support to the Republic of South Sudan " (E/2011/L.51), submitted by Vice-President of the Council Miloš Koterec (Slovakia) on the basis of informal consultations.
