The Committee took note of paragraph 71 of the Secretary-General's memorandum, in which attention was drawn to General Assembly decision 49/426, whereby the Assembly had decided that the granting of observer status should in future be confined to States and to those intergovernmental organizations whose activities covered matters of interest to the Assembly.

The Introduction to the report (sect. I) contained the text of the operative part of General Assembly resolution 54/54 V, which had established the Preparatory Committee and provided for its mandate, and referred to General Assembly decision 55/415, which had established the venue and dates for the Conference and for the third session of the Preparatory Committee.

The CHAIRMAN, referring to the calendar of meetings for the week of 26 to 30 September, drew attention to General Assembly decision 48/413 concerning the question of the Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities of States and their Property in which the General Assembly had decided that consultations should be held in the framework of the Sixth Committee during one week at the beginning of its forty-ninth session.
٦ - الرئيس: أشار إلى الجدول الزمني للجلسات المقررة لﻷسبوع من ٦٢ إلى ٠٣ أيلول/سبتمبر فوجه انتباه الوفود إلى مقرر الجمعية العامة ٨٤/٣١٤ بشأن مسألة اتفاقية حصانات الدول وممتلكاتها القضائية، الذي قررت فيه الجمعية العامة أن تجري مشاورات في إطار اللجنة السادسة خلال أسبوع واحد في مستهل دورتها التاسعة واﻷربعين.
