Let me begin by thanking the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Liberia, Ms. Ellen Margrethe Løj, and Prince Zeid for their insightful presentations.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Liberia, Ellen Margrethe Løj, briefed the Council on the situation on the ground and the proposal made by the Secretary-General in his latest report to reduce the UNMIL military component and to increase the police component.

The Council met on 10 March to consider the situation in Liberia and heard a briefing by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Ellen Margrethe Loj.
