The Board members expressed satisfaction on the organization and results of the interregional workshop on the role of women in environmentally sound and sustainable development, organized by INSTRAW and the Inter-agency Task Force on Women in Development of the former Secretariat Department of Economic and Social Development, in cooperation with the Science and Technology Commission of China and the All-China Women's Federation.

The present report deals with the research and technical work and information activities carried out in the field of population during the period 1991-1993 by the Population Division, which was part of the former Department of International Economic and Social Affairs, was later part of the former Department for Economic and Social Development and is now part of the Department for Economic and Social Information and Policy Analysis.
