18. The International Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia was established by the Security Council in 1993 to provide a judicial solution to the grave breaches of international humanitarian law occurring in the region.
