Such support to address this issue is built on the premise of a strong and committed partnership between small island developing States and the international community, one that was reiterated during the review of the Barbados Programme of Action.

Our group considers the review of the Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States, to be held in Mauritius next year, to be a fresh opportunity to consider the appropriate management approaches and tools to conserve, manage and protect our oceans resources within the context of small island developing States.

52. His delegation took note of the Secretary-General’s report contained in document A/52/319 and urged Member States to demonstrate the necessary political will to ensure a successful outcome of the review of the Barbados Programme of Action in 1999.
٢٥ - وقد أحاط وفد بلده علما بتقرير اﻷمين العام الوارد في الوثيقة A/52/319، ويحث الدول اﻷعضاء على إظهار اﻹرادة السياسية اللازمة وذلك لضمان نجاح استعراض برنامج عمل بربادوس في ١٩٩٩.

In this regard, we place great emphasis on the 10-year review of the Barbados Programme of Action, scheduled to take place in Mauritius next year, since it will present the international community with an opportunity to examine past successes and consider the future challenges that face small island developing States.
وفي هذا الصدد، نعلق أهمية قصوى على استعراض برنامج عمل بربادوس بعد 10 سنوات، المقرر انعقاده في موريشيوس في العام المقبل، حيث أنه سيتيح للمجتمع الدولي فرصة دراسة أوجه النجاح السابقة والنظر في التحديات المستقبلية التي تواجه الدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية.

15. The review of the Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States had pointed to the need for stronger international support for the efforts made by the States in question to promote sustainable development, given the vulnerability of their economies and the fragility of their ecosystems.
٥١ - واستطرد قائلا إن استعراض برنامج عمل بربادوس من أجل التنمية المستدامة للدول الصغيرة النامية قد أشار إلى ضرورة تكثيف الدعم الدولي الذي تقوم به الدول المعنية بتعزيز التنمية المستدامة، نظرا لضعف اقتصاد الدول الصغيرة وهشاشة نظمها البيولوجية.

The issue of special treatment for small island developing States was the subject of a publication for the International Meeting for the 10-year review of the Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States held in Mauritius in 2005.
20- وشكلت مسألة توفير معاملة خاصة للدول النامية الجزرية الصغيرة موضوع منشور أعد " للاجتماع الدولي بشأن استعراض برنامج عمل بربادوس بشأن التنمية المستدامة للدول النامية الجزرية الصغيرة بعد انقضاء عشر سنوات على وضعه " ، الذي عقد في موريشيوس في عام 2005.
