ولما حصل أكثر من 25 مرشحا على الأغلبية المطلقة من الأصوات، وجب إجراء اقتراع ثالث.

ولم يفز أي مرشح باﻷغلبية المطلقة اللازمة من اﻷصوات في الاقتراع الثاني في مجلس اﻷمن وشرع المجلس في إجراء اقتراع ثالث.

2. If the second ballot is inconclusive, a third ballot shall be taken in which votes may be cast for any eligible candidate.
2- إذا لم يحسم الاقتراع الثاني نتيجة الانتخاب، نُظِّم اقتراع ثالث يجوز فيه التصويت لأي مرشح مؤهل.

ونظرا لأن أكثر من 25 مرشحا حصلوا على الأغلبية المطلقة من الأصوات، وكما اتفق في وقت سابق اليوم، يجرى اقتراع ثالث على جميع المرشحين، حتى يحصل 25 مرشحا، لا أكثر، على أغلبية مطلقة.

2- وإذا أسفر الاقتراع الثاني عن نتيجة غير حاسمة وكان المطلوب هو الحصول على أغلبية من أصوات الأعضاء الحاضرين، بجري اقتراع ثالث يجوز التصويت فيه لأي مرشح مؤهل للانتخاب.

2- وإذا أسفر الاقتراع الثاني عن نتيجة غير حاسمة وكان المطلوب هو الحصول على أغلبية من أصوات الأعضاء، يجري اقتراع ثالث يجوز التصويت فيه لأي مرشح مؤهل للانتخاب.
