7.8 With regard to the complaint under article 10, paragraph 1, the Committee reiterates that persons deprived of their liberty may not be subjected to any hardship or constraint other than that resulting from the deprivation of liberty and that they must be treated with humanity and respect for their dignity.

(d) Ensure that all persons deprived of their liberty have the right to effectively and expeditiously challenge the lawfulness of their detention through a habeas corpus procedure and that the authorities are required to bring the petitioner before a judge in person in every such case;

7.7 As regards the authors' claims under article 10, paragraph 1, that their fathers were held incommunicado at Abu-Salim prison, in poor conditions and with a lack of medical care, the Committee reiterates that persons deprived of their liberty may not be subjected to any hardship or constraint other than that resulting from the deprivation of liberty and that they must be treated with humanity and respect for their dignity.
