We believe that the progress made by the Ad Hoc Working Group of Legal and Technical Experts of the Conference of Parties of the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal should be complemented by work in the context of the relevant provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The Conference of Parties to the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal, at their fifth meeting in December 1999, adopted a draft decision prepared by the open-ended Ad Hoc Committee (A/54/429, para. 117) as decision V/28, entitled " Dismantling of ships " .
واعتمد مؤتمر الأطراف في اتفاقية بازل المتعلقة بمراقبة حركة النفايات الخطرة عبر الحدود وبالتخلص منها، في اجتماعه الخامس المعقود في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1999، مشروع مقرر أعدته اللجنة المخصصة المفتوحة العضوية (A/54/429، الفقرة 117)، بوصفه المقرر 5/28 المعنون " تفكيك السفن " .
