At its fifty-fifth session, in resolution 55/92 of 4 December 2000, the General Assembly welcomed the renewed commitment made in the United Nations Millennium Declaration to take measures to ensure respect for and protection of the human rights of migrants, migrant workers and their families, to eliminate the increasing acts of racism and xenophobia in many societies and to promote greater harmony and tolerance in all societies.
1 - في الدورة الخامسة والخمسين، رحبت الجمعية العامة في القرار 55/92 المؤرخ 4 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2000، بالالتزام المتجدد الوارد في إعلان الأمم المتحدة بشأن الألفية باتخاذ تدابير لضمان احترام وحماية حقوق الإنسان للمهاجرين والعمال المهاجرين وأسرهم، والقضاء على الأفعال العنصرية وكراهية الأجانب المتزايدة في مجتمعات كثيرة وتعزيز زيادة الوئام والتسامح في جميع المجتمعات.

وإذ ترحب بما أعرب عنه في إعلان الأمم المتحدة للألفية الذي اعتمدته الجمعية العامة في 8 أيلول/سبتمبر 2000() من تصميم على اتخاذ تدابير للقضاء على الأفعال العنصرية وكراهية الأجانب المتزايدة في مجتمعات كثيرة، والعمل على زيادة الوئام والتسامح في المجتمعات كافة، وإذ تتطلع إلى تنفيذ هذا الإعلان تنفيذا فعالا على جميع الصعد،
