293. In defining the mandate of the permanent secretariat of the Assembly of States Parties (hereafter referred to as " the Secretariat " ), the present proposals have taken into account a number of considerations, including:

Also at the same meeting, the Assembly was informed that the Bureau was still consulting on the question of the permanent secretariat of the Assembly of States Parties as contained in Assembly resolution ICC-ASP/1/Res.9, with a view to submitting the related proposals in time for the Assembly to take a decision on such proposals during its second session in September 2003.

1. In its resolution 58/79 of 9 December 2003, the General Assembly, inter alia, welcomed the establishment of the permanent secretariat of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and recognized the need for an orderly and smooth transition of work from the Secretariat of the United Nations to the secretariat of the Assembly of States Parties.
1 - أعربت الجمعية العامة في قرارها 58/79 المؤرخ 9 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2003، في جملة أمور، عن الترحيب بإنشاء الأمانة الدائمة لجمعية الدول الأطراف في نظام روما الأساسي للمحكمة الجنائية الدولية، وسلمت بضرورة أن يتم نقل العمل على نحو منظم وسلس من الأمانة العامة للأمم المتحدة إلى أمانة جمعية الدول الأطراف.
