8. National Secretariat for the Family

The National Secretariat for the Family (SNF) undertakes actions on behalf of women in the following areas: housing, health, labour, education, dissemination of rights, among others, in harmony with the Government's " Safe Country " Plan, particularly in the Presidential programme " Opportunities for Women Heads of Household " , while coordinating actions with public and private institutions and international agencies.

The most important effort undertaken by the SNF has been the activities leading up to the adoption of the Family Code and to meet the pressing need for an appropriate legal framework to legislate for relations between family members, ensuring equal rights for men and women; equal rights for children; and the protection of minors and other legally incompetent persons, of the elderly and of deserted mothers.
٨٦- تعتبر أهم الانجازات التي حققتها جهود اﻷمانة الوطنية لﻷسرة تلك التي أدت الى اعتماد قانون اﻷسرة، وتلبية الحاجة الماسة من أجل وضع إطار قانوني ملائم لسن قوانين في مجال العلاقة بين أفراد اﻷسرة، وضمان المساواة بين الرجل والمرأة في الحقوق، والمساواة بين اﻷطفال في الحقوق وحماية القصر وغيرهم من اﻷشخاص فاقدي اﻷهلية القانونية، والمسنين واﻷمهات اللاتي هجرهن اﻷزواج.
