2. The General Assembly reaffirmed the role of the Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa in promoting peace, security and disarmament at the regional level and requested the Secretary-General to facilitate closer cooperation between the Regional Centre and the African Union, in particular in the areas of peace, security and disarmament.

Under the terms of operative paragraphs 6 and 7 of draft resolution A/c.1/63/L.50/Rev.1*, the General Assembly would request the Secretary-General to facilitate closer cooperation between the Regional Centre and the African Union, in particular in the areas of peace, security and development, and to continue to provide the necessary support to the Regional Centre for better achievements and results.

15 - تطلب إلى الأمين العام أن ييسر تنظيم اجتماعات جانبية للمنظمات غير الحكومية والمنظمات المهنية المشاركة في المؤتمر الثاني عشر، وفقا للممارسة المعمول بها سابقا، وكذلك اجتماعات للمجموعات المهنية والجغرافية المعنية، وأن يتخذ التدابير المناسبة لتشجيع مشاركة الأوساط الأكاديمية والبحثية في المؤتمر؛

11. Also requests the SecretaryGeneral to facilitate the organization of the regional preparatory meetings and to make available the necessary resources for the participation of the least developed countries in those meetings and in the Thirteenth Congress itself, in accordance with past practice and in consultation with Member States;
