The Commission welcomed the above-mentioned request by the General Assembly, in its resolution 56/79, paragraph 13, to the Secretary-General to strengthen the secretariat of the Commission within the bounds of the resources available in the Organization so as to ensure and enhance the effective implementation of the programme of the Commission (see para. 258, above).
