In his report to the Council at its 1999 session, the Secretary-General of ITU indicated that the reaction of the ACC was positive and that a number of other organizations and agencies had expressed interest in being associated with the preparation and holding of the Summit.

It is vital that Governments support the second phase, and the Secretary-General of ITU has already launched a fund-raising campaign for that purpose.
