5-1 يتخذ المتعاقد التدابير اللازمة لمنع التلوث وغيره من المخاطر التي قد تنشأ عن الأنشطة التي يضطلع بها في المنطقة على البيئة البحرية بقدر ما يكون ذلك ممكنا بشكل معقول متبعا نهجا تحوطيا وأفضل الممارسات البيئية.

5.1 The Contractor shall take necessary measures to prevent, reduce and control pollution and other hazards to the marine environment arising from its activities in the Area as far as reasonably possible using for this purpose the best practicable means at its disposal.
5-1 يتخذ المتعاقد التدابير اللازمة لمنع التلوث وغيره من المخاطر التي قد تنشأ من الأنشطة التي يضطلع بها في المنطقة على البيئة البحرية بقدر ما يكون ذلك ممكنا بشكل معقول باستخدام أفضل التكنولوجيات المتاحة له، وتخفيض هذه المخاطر والحد منها.

In parallel, the Programme again benefited from financial backing from France during 2011 in order to support its activities in the region targeting the countries of Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Togo.

If a contractor does not promptly comply with an emergency order to prevent serious harm to the marine environment arising out of its activities in the Area, the Council shall take by itself or through arrangements with others on its behalf, such practical measures as are necessary to prevent, contain and minimize any such serious harm to the marine environment.
6 - إذا لم يمتثل المتعاقد، على وجه السرعة، للأمر الصادر في حالة الطوارئ لمنع إلحاق ضرر جسيم بالبيئة البحرية ناجم عن الأنشطة التي يضطلع بها في المنطقة. يجوز للمجلس أن يتخذ، بنفسه أو من خلال ترتيبات مع آخرين، نيابة عنه، التدابير التي يراها ضرورية لمنع إلحاق ذلك الضرر الجسيم بالبيئة البحرية واحتوائه وتخفيفه إلى أقصى حد ممكن.

6. 6 - إذا لم يمتثل المتعاقد، على وجه السرعة، للأمر الصادر في حالة الطوارئ لمنع خطر إلحاق أذى جسيم بالبيئة البحرية ناجم عن الأنشطة التي يضطلع بها في المنطقة. يجوز للمجلس أن يتخذ، بنفسه أو من خلال ترتيبات مع آخرين، نيابة عنه، التدابير التي يراها ضرورية لمنع إلحاق ذلك الضرر الجسيم بالبيئة البحرية واحتوائه وتخفيفه إلى أقصى حد ممكن.
