88. Barbados is not a party to the Convention on the Status of Refugees or the 1967 Protocol, but is a party to the American Convention on Human Rights which states, in Article 22, support for the principle of asylum and non-refoulement.
88 - إن بربادوس ليست طرفا في الاتفاقية المتعلقة بمركز اللاجئين أو بروتوكول عام 1967، غير أنها طرف في الاتفاقية الأمريكية المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان التي تنص، في المادة 22، على دعم مبدأ اللجوء وعدم الإعادة القسرية للاجئين.

The court ruled that the State of Guatemala had violated the American Convention on Human Rights and had to pay the elevated damages by 26 November 2001.
وقد حكمت المحكمة بأن دولة غواتيمالا انتهكت الاتفاقية الأمريكية المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان وأن عليها أن تصرف التعويضات المحكوم بها في موعد أقصاه 26 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2001.

12. At the regional level Costa Rica was the first country to ratify the American Convention on Human Rights after playing a particularly active role in drawing up that instrument.
12- وعلى الصعيد الإقليمي، كانت كوستاريكا أول بلدٍ يصدق على الاتفاقية الأمريكية المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان(15)، بعدما شاركت بشكل هام في إعدادها.

Article 22, paragraph 6, of the American Convention on Human Rights imposes the same requirement by providing that: " An alien lawfully in the territory of a State Party to this Convention may be expelled from it only pursuant to a decision reached in accordance with law. "
وتضع الفقرة 6 من المادة 22 من الاتفاقية الأمريكية المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان (ميثاق سان خوسيه) نفس الشرط حينما تنص على أنه: ' ' لا يجوز طرد الأجنبي الذي دخل بصفة قانونية إلى أراضى دولة ما طرف فى هذه الاتفاقية إلا بموجب قرار مطابق للقانون``.

The Commission pointed to the broad formulation of article 44 of the American Convention on Human Rights which specifies that " any person or group of persons, or any non-governmental entity legally recognized in one or more member States of the Organization, may lodge petitions with the Commission containing denunciations or complaints of violation of this Convention by a State Party " .
وأشارت لجنة البلدان الأمريكية إلى الصيغة الواسعة للمادة 44 من الاتفاقية الأمريكية المتعلقة بحقوق الإنسان التي تنص على أنه ' ' يجوز لأي شخص أو مجموعة من الأشخاص، أو أي كيان غير حكومي معترف به قانونيا في دولة أو أكثر من الدول الأعضاء، أن يرفع إلى اللجنة التماسا يتضمن بلاغات أو شكاوى ضد انتهاك دولة طرف لهذه الاتفاقية`.

Although the Organization of American States (OAS) had adopted a somewhat narrower definition in article 22, paragraph 7, of the American Convention on Human Rights of November 1969, the more extensive definition was subsequently endorsed both by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and by the OAS General Assembly.

Since the advent of democracy in 1989, Paraguay's participation in and collaboration with the inter-American system bodies -- the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights -- has been harmonious and productive, which has led to important progress towards fulfilment of the commitments undertaken by the State as a party to the American Convention on Human Rights (Pact of San José, Costa Rica).
