The Secretary-General has the honour to transmit to the General Assembly the report of the seventh meeting of persons chairing the human rights treaty bodies, convened pursuant to General Assembly resolution 50/170 of 22 December 1995.

17. In September 1996, the seventh meeting of persons chairing the human rights treaty bodies recalled the conclusions made at their sixth meeting wherein they recommended that:

Noting with interest the report of the seventh meeting of persons chairing the human rights treaty bodies, in particular its conclusions and recommendations, he said that such meetings could make a significant contribution to improving the operation of the treaty bodies and to ensuring further support for their work.
