At the fifty-fifth session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, Member States welcomed the work of the standing open-ended intergovernmental working group on improving the governance and financial situation of UNODC and stated that they looked forward to further discussions in the working group, including on the regional and thematic programmes of the Office.

3. Encourages Member States to support the regional and thematic programmes of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime through unearmarked voluntary contributions, whenever possible, and thereby to support national ownership and regional prioritization;

Commenting on the other interventions, a representative of the Secretariat stated that the working group had been an important venue for discussion, inter alia, of regional and thematic programmes and evaluation and that it should also address the financial situation of the Office.
