Building on successful media campaigns in 1999 and 2000 to publicize the work of the Economic and Social Council, the Department of Public Information will develop a similar strategy for the high-level segment of the Council's substantive session of 2001, to be held in Geneva, which will focus on the role of the United Nations in support of the efforts of African countries to achieve sustainable development.
