Average life expectancy has risen sharply from the 1981 figure of 67.8 years to the 2005 figure of 73.0 years, a gain of 5.2 years; this figure also surpasses the 2005 figure for world life expectancy overall (67 years) and that for average life expectancy in developing countries and regions (65 years).

IV. High and medium forest cover countries 34. According to FRA 2005, there are 11 developing countries and territories that are high forest cover countries with over 75 per cent of their land area in forests.
