2.5 On 4 May 2000, the author applied to the Trial Division of the Federal Court for a definitive stay of the citizenship revocation proceedings on the grounds that, given his advanced age and precarious health, the very act of initiating and continuing such proceedings impaired his constitutional right to life, liberty and security of person.
