1. The item entitled " measures to eliminate international terrorism " was included in the provisional agenda of the fifty-fifth session of the General Assembly pursuant to Assembly resolution 54/110 of 9 December 1999.

28. The international community had a duty to respond on the basis of shared responsibility to ensure that measures to eliminate international terrorism were not used to attack the independence of a democratic country.

Ms. Al-Ghanem (Kuwait) said that her delegation had taken note of the Secretary-General's report entitled " measures to eliminate international terrorism " (A/59/210), which, inter alia, described the steps Kuwait had taken to combat terrorism, as detailed in her Government's third report to the Counter-Terrorism Committee.
33 - السيدة الغانم (الكويت): قالت إن وفدها أحاط علما بتقرير الأمين العام المعنون " التدابير الرامية للقضاء على الإرهاب الدولي " (A/59/210) الذي يصف في جملة أمور الخطوات التي اتخذتها الكويت لمكافحة الإرهاب على النحو الوارد تفصيلا في التقرير الثالث لحكومتها المقدم إلى لجنة مكافحة الإرهاب.

35. Following the adoption of the draft resolution, the Office of Legal Affairs would contact the Department of Political Affairs, the Department for Disarmament Affairs, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to have them provide their contribution to the Secretary-General's annual report on measures to eliminate international terrorism.
35 - وأوضح أنه بعد اعتماد مشروع القرار فلسوف يتصل مكتب الشؤون القانونية بإدارة الشؤون السياسية وإدارة شؤون نزع السلاح ومكتب الأمم المتحدة لمراقبة المخدرات ومنع الجريمة ومفوضية الأمم المتحدة لحقوق الإنسان لكي يقدم كل طرف مساهمته في التقرير السنوي للأمين العام بشأن التدابير الرامية للقضاء على الإرهاب الدولي.
