It is therefore felt that, for lack of access to technical inputs for sector analysis and needs assessment in the human settlements sector, in many cases Governments are unable to include this sector in their prioritization of the sectors requiring United Nations technical cooperation.

In the field of mineral resources and mining, United Nations technical cooperation activities in disaster mitigation and prevention are carried out in worker safety in the mining and minerals industries and in areas where mineral resource and geological expertise and technology are applicable, such as the monitoring and prediction of earthquakes, landslides and volcanic eruptions.
٨٧ - في ميدان الموارد المعدنية والتعدين، يضطلع بأنشطة التعاون التقني لﻷمم المتحدة في مجال التخفيف من آثار الكوارث واتقائها في شكل توفير سلامة العمال في صناعات التعدين والصناعات المعدنية، وفي المجالات التي يمكن فيها استخدام الخبرة الفنية والتكنولوجيا الخاصتين بالموارد المعدنية والجيولوجيا، مثل رصد الزلازل والانهيارات اﻷرضية والثورات البركانية والتنبؤ بها.
