1. The present report is submitted pursuant to paragraph 23 of General Assembly resolution 60/154 in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to it at its sixty-second session on the implementation of that resolution.

In the above-mentioned letter to ACC dated 30 October 1998, the Secretary-General drew attention to paragraph 6 of resolution 52/233, in which the Assembly requested him to ensure that the United Nations system would facilitate the dissemination of relevant information on funding possibilities to assist developing countries and countries with economies in transition to address the year 2000 problem.
وفي الرسالة المذكورة أعلاه الموجهة إلى لجنة التنسيق اﻹدارية والمؤرخة ٣٠ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٨، لفت اﻷمين العام الانتباه إلى الفقرة ٦ من القرار ٥٢/٢٣٣، التي طلبت الجمعية العامة فيها إليه أن يكفل أن تسهل منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة نشر المعلومات ذات الصلة بشأن إمكانيات التمويل لمساعدة البلدان النامية التي تمر اقتصاداتها بمرحلة انتقالية لمعالجة مشكلة سنة ٢٠٠٠.

Furthermore, in accordance with section III, paragraph 3, of General Assembly resolution 65/259, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to assess the status of conference facilities at the Commission, the present report provides an update on the engagement of consultants and an overview of the renovation work undertaken in respect of the urgently needed repairs that have been identified.

3. The present report has been prepared in response to paragraph 10 of the resolution, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submit to it at its sixty-sixth session a report on the implementation of the resolution and recommendations for future follow-up, including lessons learned in integrating science, technology and innovation policies into national development strategies.
3 - وقد أعد هذا التقرير استجابة للفقرة 10 من القرار التي طلبت الجمعية فيها إلى الأمين العام أن يقدم إليها في دورتها السادسة والستين تقريرا عن تنفيذ القرار وتوصيات للمتابعة في المستقبل، بما في ذلك الدروس المستفادة من دمج السياسات المتعلقة بالعلم والتكنولوجيا والابتكار في الاستراتيجيات الإنمائية الوطنية

In this regard, UNHCR should revert to paragraph 6 of resolution 57/278, by which the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General and the executive heads of the funds and programmes of the United Nations to examine governance structures, principles and accountability throughout the United Nations system, since better disclosure would be a step towards taking a proactive approach to the review requested by the Assembly.
وفي هذا الخصوص، ينبغي للمفوضية أن ترجع إلى الفقرة 6 من القرار 57/278، التي طلبت الجمعية العامة بمقتضاها إلى الأمين العام والرؤساء التنفيذيين للصناديق والبرامج التابعة للأمم المتحدة أن يدرسوا هياكل الإدارة ومبادئها والمساءلة بشأنها في منظومة الأمم المتحدة بكاملها، وذلك نظرا لأن تحسين الإفصاح من شأنه أن يكون خطوة نحو اتخاذ نهج استباقي تجاه الاستعراض الذي طلبته الجمعية العامة.
