In paragraph 42, the General Committee draws the attention of the General Assembly to paragraph 17 of the annex to resolution 51/241 which states, inter alia, that the plenary meetings of the General Assembly shall be formally opened every year on the first Tuesday following 1 September.
في الفقرة ٤٢، يوجه المكتب انتباه الجمعية العامة إلى الفقرة ١٧ من مرفـــق القرار ٥١/٢٤١ التـي تنص، في جملة أمور، على أن تفتتح الجلسات العامة للجمعية العامة كل عام رسميا يوم الثلاثاء اﻷول الذي يلي يوم ١ أيلول/ سبتمبر.

While the General Assembly, in paragraph 17 of the annex to resolution 51/241, decided that its regular session would open on the first Tuesday following 1 September, it was decided that the fifty-third session would open on Wednesday, 9 September.
وبينما قررت الجمعية العامة، في الفقرة ١٧ من المرفق بالقرار ٥١/٢٤١ أن تفتتح دورتها العادية يوم الثلاثاء اﻷول الذي يلي يوم أول ١ أيلول/سبتمبر، تقرر أن تفتتح الدورة الثالثة والخمسون يوم اﻷربعاء، ٩ أيلول/ سبتمبر.

40. The Secretary-General wishes to draw the attention of the General Committee to paragraph 17 of the annex to resolution 51/241 which states, inter alia, that the “plenary meetings of the General Assembly shall be formally opened every year on the first Tuesday following 1 September”.
٤٠ - يود اﻷمين العام أن يوجه انتباه المكتب إلى الفقرة ١٧ من مرفق القرار ٥١/٢٤١ الذي ينص في جملة أمور على أن " تفتتح الجلسات العامة للجمعية العامة كل عام رسميا يوم الثلاثاء اﻷول الذي يلي يوم أول أيلول/سبتمبر " .

In considering this option, Member States may wish to consider that, in its resolution 51/241 of 31 July 1997, the General Assembly decided that the plenary meetings of the General Assembly should be formally opened every year on the first Tuesday following 1 September, with the election of the President, Vice-Presidents and Chairmen of the Main Committees (the General Committee).
١٨ - عند النظر في هذا الخيار، قد تود الدول اﻷعضاء اﻹشارة الى أن الجمعية العامة قد قررت في قرارها ٥١/٢٤١ المؤرخ ٣١ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٧ أن تفتتح الجلسات العامة للجمعية العامة كل عام رسميا يوم الثلاثاء اﻷول الذي يلي يوم أول أيلول/سبتمبر، بانتخاب الرئيس ونواب الرئيس ورؤساء اللجان الرئيسية )المكتب(.
