47. On 5 May, I wrote again to Senior General Than Shwe, noting that expectations remained high that his Government would make further concrete efforts to implement its commitments and meet the legitimate aspirations of all the people of Myanmar.

On 11 November, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi wrote a second letter to Senior General Than Shwe in which she thanked the Council for having arranged the aforementioned meeting and for having enabled political organizations to meet with United States Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell during the latter's visit to Myanmar on 3 and 4 November.
19 - وفي11 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر، بعثَتْ داو أونغ سان سو كيي برسالة خطية ثانية إلى الجنرال ثان شوي شكرتْ فيها المجلس على ترتيب الاجتماع المذكور وعلى إتاحة المجال لكي تلتقي المنظمات السياسية بالسيد كورت كامبل، مساعد وزيرة خارجية الولايات المتحدة لشؤون شرق آسيا والمحيط الهادئ، خلال زيارته إلى ميانمار يومي 3 و 4 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر.

These included speeches by Senior General Than Shwe on the occasion of Union Day (12 February 2010) and Armed Forces Day (27 March 2010), in which he stated that elections would be " free and fair " and that preparations were being made to be ready in every aspect for a gentle transition to democracy and a market-oriented economic system.
وكان من هذه التصريحات ما جاء في خطابَي الجنرال ثان شوي بمناسبة يوم الاتحاد (12 شباط/فبراير 2010) ويوم القوات المسلحة (27 آذار/مارس 2010)، حيث قال إن الانتخابات ستكون " حرة ونزيهة " وإن الأعمال التحضيرية تجري لكي يكون البلد جاهزا من جميع النواحي للانتقال السلس إلى الديمقراطية وإلى النظام الاقتصادي القائم على السوق.
