37. The Government of Qatar stated that, according to the Law on Nationality, Qatari citizenship is obtained by descent, by naturalization and by settlement.

Under the provisions of articles 1 and 2 of the Qatari nationality Act No. 2 of 1961, as amended, nationality is granted to indigenous Qataris who settled in the country before 1930 and also to their children born in Qatar or abroad.

Similarly, no explicit provision is made for children with disabilities in the Qatari nationality Act No. 38 of 2005, pursuant to which they have the right to acquire Qatari nationality. A child's disability does not constitute grounds for denial or grant of Qatari nationality.
كما لم يرد نص صريح بشأنهم في قانون الجنسية القطرية رقم 38 لسنة 2005، حيث إن لهم الحق في الحصول على الجنسية القطرية وفقاً لهذا القانون، علماً بأن الإعاقة لا تشكل سبباً في حرمانهم أو منحهم الجنسية القطرية.

209. In this context, article 2 of the Nationality Act states that Qatari nationality can be granted to a non-Qatari who meets the following conditions:
209- وفي السياق ذاته، جاء في المادة 2 من قانون الجنسية أنه يجوز بقرار أميري منح الجنسية القطرية لغير القطري إذا توفرت فيه الشروط التالية:

211. Qatari women do not forfeit Qatari nationality if they marry a non-Qatari but only if they acquire the husband's nationality. In such cases, they can reacquire Qatari nationality if they relinquish the other nationality.
211- ولا تفقد المرأة القطرية جنسيتها في حال زواجها من غير قطري، إلا إذا ثبت اكتسابها جنسية زوجها، وفي هذه الحالة يجوز لها أن تسترد الجنسية القطرية إذا تنازلت عن الجنسية الأخرى.

Since these children are classified as foundlings born in Qatar, they are also entitled to Qatari nationality, unless otherwise provided in article 2 of the Nationality Act. 60. With regard to a woman's right to transmit her nationality to her child, the Qatari nationality Act No. 38 of 2005 states that nationality is transmitted by descent through the father.

38. Articles 11 and 12 provide the conditions for the loss of Qatari citizenship.
38- وتنص المادتان 11 و12 على الأسباب الموجِبة لفقدان الجنسية القطرية.

(b) Status of the transmission of Qatari citizenship to children born to a Qatari mother and a non-citizen father;

212. The figures show that more women than men were naturalized in Qatar in 2007: 117 women, as compared with 41 men.
212- وتبين الإحصائيات بأن عدد النساء الحاصلات على الجنسية القطرية عام 2007 يفوق عدد الحاصلين عليها من الذكور، حيث حصلت 117 امرأة على الجنسية مقابل 41 رجل.
