THE SECURITY COUNCIL Upon instructions from my Government, I have the honour to transmit herewith a statement issued by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda regarding the situation in eastern Zaire and the ever endless, baseless allegations by diverse sources against Uganda.

1. The Government of the Republic of Uganda wishes to refer to the situation in eastern Zaire and to the accusations from some circles in the Government of Zaire and the international community that Uganda is involved in eastern Zaire.
١ - تود حكومة جمهورية أوغندا أن تشير إلى الحالة في شرقي زائير وإلى الاتهامات الموجهة من بعض الدوائر في حكومة زائير والمجتمع الدولي بأن أوغندا متورطة في شرقي زائير.

The Council endorsed the communiqué issued by the Chairperson of the Commission on 5 May 2009 on the situation in eastern Chad and welcomed the efforts that he continues to deploy, as well as those of the current Chairperson of the African Union.

On 16 June, in closed consultations, the Security Council heard, via videoconference, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator on the situation in eastern Ukraine.
وفي 16 حزيران/يونيه، استمع مجلس الأمن في مشاورات مغلقة إلى وكيلة الأمين العام للشؤون الإنسانية ومنسقة الإغاثة في حالات الطوارئ التي تحدثت عن طريق التداول بالفيديو عن الحالة في شرقي أوكرانيا.

4. Since September 1996, the situation in eastern Zaire has undergone a sharp transformation. Fighting between the Zairian Army and the rebels intensified and resulted in the rebels' takeover, by 4 November 1996, of the towns of Uvira, Bukavu and Goma.
