The research dialogue was initiated by the SBSTA in order to let Parties know about developments in research activities by regional and international research programmes and organizations.

48- وأشارت الهيئة الفرعية إلى ضرورة زيادة تعزيز التفاعل بين الأوساط العلمية وواضعي السياسات عن طريق تعزيز الحوار البحثي.

53. The SBSTA recognized the need to engage observation programmes in the research dialogue.
53- وأقرت الهيئة الفرعية بالحاجة إلى إشراك برامج الرصد في الحوار البحثي.

The Chair of the SBSTA addressed the meeting on the outcomes of the SBSTA research dialogue, which took place on 19 May 2012.
28- ألقى رئيس الهيئة الفرعية للمشورة العلمية والتكنولوجية كلمة في الاجتماع بشأن نتائج الحوار البحثي للهيئة الفرعية، الذي عُقد في 19 أيار/مايو 2012.

27. Also at its thirty-second session, the SBSTA noted the need to further enhance interaction between the science and policy communities by strengthening the research dialogue.
27- وكانت الهيئة الفرعية للمشورة العلمية والتكنولوجية قد أشارت أيضاً في دورتها الثانية والثلاثين إلى ضرورة زيادة تعزيز التفاعل بين الأوساط العلمية والأوساط المعنية بوضع السياسات عن طريق تعزيز الحوار البحثي.

32. Action: The SBSTA will be invited to consider the report on the workshop referred to in paragraph 31 above as well as the information provided by Parties, relevant research programmes and organizations, and the IPCC during the research dialogue meeting referred to in paragraph 30 above.
32 - الإجراء: ستُدعى الهيئة الفرعية للمشورة العلمية والتكنولوجية إلى النظر في تقرير حلقة العمل المشار إليها في الفقرة 31 أعلاه وفي المعلومات المقدمة من الأطراف، وبرامج ومنظمات البحوث المعنية، والهيئة الحكومية الدولية المعنية بتغير المناخ خلال اجتماع الحوار البحثي المشار إليه في الفقرة 30 أعلاه.

47. The SBSTA recalled the valuable role that the research dialogue is playing in informing deliberations within the UNFCCC process, and agreed that it should be continued at SBSTA 34 and beyond.
47- وأشارت الهيئة الفرعية إلى الدور القيّم الذي يؤديه الحوار البحثي من حيث إتاحته معلومات تنير أعمال المداولات التي تجري في إطار إجراءات الاتفاقية، ووافقت على أنه ينبغي مواصلة هذا الحوار في الدورة الرابعة والثلاثين للهيئة الفرعية وبعدها.

However, under agenda item 6, " Research and systematic observation " , the secretariat was requested to organize a workshop, in conjunction with SBSTA 34, to allow further in-depth consideration to be given to issues addressed in the research dialogue.
بيد أن الهيئة الفرعية طلبت إلى الأمانة، في إطار البند 6 من جدول الأعمال المعنون " البحوث والمراقبة المنهجية " ، أن تنظم حلقة عمل، بالتزامن مع الدورة الرابعة والثلاثين للهيئة الفرعية، كي يتسنى النظر بمزيد من التعمق في المسائل التي نوقشت في الحوار البحثي.

The SBSTA affirmed the valuable role of the research dialogue in providing new scientific information that emerges from climate change research in between publication of the IPCC Assessment Reports.
48- وأكدت الهيئة الفرعية ما يؤديه الحوار البحثي من دور قيّم في إتاحة المعلومات العلمية الجديدة لبحوث تغير المناخ التي تستجد خلال الفترة الفاصلة بين نشر التقارير التقييمية للهيئة الحكومية الدولية المعنية بتغير المناخ.

29. Furthermore, at its thirty-second session, the SBSTA requested the secretariat to provide information to Parties prior to SBSTA 34 on the themes to be presented at the research dialogue meeting and at the workshop referred to in paragraph 27 above.
29- وإضافة إلى ذلك، طلبت الهيئة الفرعية في دورتها الثانية والثلاثين إلى الأمانة أن توافي الأطراف، قبل الدورة الرابعة والثلاثين للهيئة، بمعلومات عن المواضيع التي ستعرض في اجتماع الحوار البحثي وفي حلقة العمل المشار إليها في الفقرة 27(أ) أعلاه().

In response to the request by the SBSTA referred to in paragraph above, the secretariat will organize a meeting as part of the research dialogue during the thirty-second session of the SBSTA with the participation of representatives of Parties, relevant research programmes and organizations and the IPCC, taking into account the views from Parties referred to in paragraph above.
29- واستجابة لطلب الهيئة الفرعية للمشورة العلمية والتكنولوجية المشار إليه في الفقرة 26 أعلاه، ستنظم الأمانة اجتماعاً في إطار إجراء هذا الحوار البحثي خلال الدورة الثانية والثلاثين للهيئة الفرعية بمشاركة ممثلي الأطراف وبرامج ومنظمات البحوث المعنية والهيئة الحكومية الدولية المعنية بتغير المناخ، مع مراعاة آراء الأطراف المشار إليها في الفقرة 27 أعلاه.

It further requested the secretariat to provide information to Parties prior to SBSTA 34 on the themes to be presented at the research dialogue meeting and at the workshop referred to in paragraph 49 (a) above.
وطلبت الهيئة الفرعية أيضا إلى الأمانة أن توافي الأطراف بمعلومات قبل الدورة الرابعة والثلاثين للهيئة الفرعية بشأن المواضيع التي ستعرض في اجتماع الحوار البحثي وفي حلقة العمل المشار إليها في الفقرة 49 (أ) أعلاه.

26. Background: The SBSTA, at its thirty-second session, recalled the valuable role that the research dialogue taking place in the context of decision 9/CP.11 is playing in informing deliberations within the UNFCCC process, and agreed that it should be continued at SBSTA 34 and beyond.
26- الخلفية: أشارت الهيئة الفرعية للمشورة العلمية والتكنولوجية، في دورتها الثانية والثلاثين، إلى الدور القيم الذي يؤديه الحوار البحثي الجاري في السياق المتعلق بالمقرر 9/م أ-11 من حيث إتاحته معلومات تنير أعمال المداولات التي تجري في إطار إجراءات الاتفاقية، ووافقت على أنه ينبغي مواصلة هذا الحوار في الدورة الرابعة والثلاثين للهيئة الفرعية وبعدها.

45. The SBSTA took note of the views submitted by Parties on topics for discussion at the research dialogue meeting convened during SBSTA 32 and expressed its appreciation to Parties for providing, during that dialogue meeting, their views on research needs and priorities, in particular those related to reducing uncertainties and gaps in scientific knowledge relevant to the needs of the Convention.
45- أحاطت الهيئة الفرعية بالآراء التي أدلت بها الأطراف بشأن المواضيع المطروحة للنقاش في اجتماع الحوار البحثي الذي عُقد في الدورة الثانية والثلاثين للهيئة()، وأعربت عن تقديرها لتقديم الأطراف خلال هذا الاجتماع آراءها بشأن احتياجات وأولويات البحث، لا سيما تلك المتعلقة بتقليص أوجه عدم التيقن والثغرات التي تنطوي عليها المعارف العلمية ذات الصلة باحتياجات الاتفاقية.

It encouraged research programmes and organizations to continue to provide, for consideration under the research dialogue in the future, information on developments in research activities outlined in document FCCC/SBSTA/2007/4, paragraph 47 (a - f), taking into account views expressed by Parties, priorities emerging within the UNFCCC process and activities undertaken in support of the IPCC towards the preparation of the AR5.
وشجعت الهيئة الفرعية البرامج والمنظمات البحثية على أن تواصل تقديم معلومات بشأن مستجدات أنشطة البحث المبينة في الفقرة 47((أ) - (و)) من الوثيقة FCCC/SBSTA/2007/4، ليُنظر فيها في إطار الحوار البحثي الذي سيجرى مستقبلا، مع مراعاة آراء الأطراف والأولويات الناشئة من خلال إجراءات الاتفاقية والأنشطة المضطلع بها لدعم إعدادِ الهيئةِ الحكومية الدولية تقريرَ التقييم الخامس.

In this regard, the SBSTA requested the secretariat to organize a workshop, in conjunction with its thirty-fourth session, subject to the availability of resources and under the guidance of the Chair of the SBSTA, to allow further in-depth consideration to be given to issues addressed in the research dialogue and to prepare a report on the workshop, to be made available for consideration by the SBSTA at its thirty-fourth session.
وفي هذا الصدد، طلبت الهيئة الفرعية إلى الأمانة أن تنظّم، رهناً بتوافر الموارد، حلقة عمل تقترن بدورتها الرابعة والثلاثين وتُعقد تحت إشراف رئيس الهيئة الفرعية، من أجل النظر بمزيد من التعمق في المسائل التي تناولها الحوار البحثي وإعداد تقرير عن حلقة العمل يُعرض على الهيئة الفرعية في دورتها الرابعة والثلاثين().

30. In response to the conclusions of the SBSTA regarding the continuation of the research dialogue referred to in paragraph 26 above, the secretariat will organize a meeting as part of the research dialogue during the thirty-fourth session of the SBSTA with the participation of representatives of Parties, relevant research programmes and organizations, and the IPCC, taking into account the views of Parties referred to in paragraph 28 above.
30- واستجابة لاستنتاجات الهيئة الفرعية فيما يتعلق بمواصلة الحوار البحثي المشار إليه في الفقرة 26 أعلاه، ستنظم الأمانة اجتماعاً في إطار هذا الحوار البحثي خلال الدورة الرابعة والثلاثين للهيئة الفرعية() بمشاركة ممثلي الأطراف، وبرامج ومنظمات البحوث المعنية، والهيئة الحكومية الدولية المعنية بتغير المناخ، مع مراعاة آراء الأطراف المشار إليها في الفقرة 28 أعلاه.
