In order to address the problem areas cited above, OIOS recommends that the following elements be included in the comprehensive policy guidelines, called for by the General Assembly in its resolution 51/226 of 3 April 1997, governing the engagement and use of consultants:

Also endorses the recommendation of the Advisory Committee that the Secretariat resume the past practice of submitting, on a biennial basis and in conjunction with the report requested by the Committee on the hiring of retired staff, a report on the hiring and use of consultants, which should follow the format of past reports on the subject;A/51/533, para. 44.
٧ - تؤيد أيضا توصية اللجنة الاستشارية بأن تستأنف اﻷمانة العامة الممارسة التي كانت متبعة في السابق والمتمثلة في القيام كل سنتين، وبالاقتران بالتقرير المقدم عن استخدام الموظفين المتقاعدين، بتقديم تقرير عن التعاقد مع الخبراء الاستشاريين والاستعانة بهم يتبع فيه شكل التقارير السابقة المتعلقة بهذا الموضوع)٦١(؛
