The following preliminary proposals were made during the third session of the Panel by individual delegations and groups:

A progress report of the study is expected to be available at the second session and results of the completed study will be presented at the third session of the Panel. II. FINANCING AND TECHNOLOGY
ومن المنتظر أن يتاح تقرير مرحلي عن الدراسة في الدورة الثانية للفريق وأن تقدم نتائج الدراسة الكاملة في الدورة الثالثة للفريق.

At the Panel's first session it was decided to schedule programme element I.3 for substantive discussion at the third session of the Panel, provisionally scheduled for 2-13 September 1996 in Geneva.
واتخذ في الدورة اﻷولى للفريق قرار بإجراء المناقشة الموضوعية للعنصر البرنامجي ١-٣ في الدورة الثالثة للفريق التي تقرر بصفة مؤقتة أن تُعقد في جنيف من ٢ إلى ١٣ أيلول/سبتمبر ١٩٩٦.

Those rules were implemented as from the third session of the Group.

A conference room paper on forest research will be before the Panel at its fourth session, in which the outcome of the third session of the Panel, and the results of the meeting on research policy dialogue organized by CIFOR in 1994 and of various government initiatives will be used as a starting point.

12. The Task Force feels that the various specific options suggested by Governments during the third session of the Panel could be clustered under two alternate approaches, as set out below.

It aims to provide a preliminary overview of the issues related to trade in forest products in general as well as its implications for the environment and sustainable forest management, in preparing for the substantive discussion of this programme element at the third session of the Panel.

A final report will be prepared prior to the third session of the Panel, scheduled for 2-13 September 1996.

At the third session of the Panel, it is scheduled for " further substantive discussion " .

It provides a general overview of the issue, followed by a short update of the current status, and a description of the range of considerations involved in preparing for the substantive discussion of this programme element at the third session of the Panel.

21. The second session of the Panel might wish to take note of this progress report and provide further guidance in the preparation of the report for substantive discussion at the third session of the Panel.

2. The objective of the third session of the Panel was to produce a document containing elements to be used by the Panel at its fourth session in preparing its final report to the Commission on Sustainable Development.
