Notes the participation of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in the ninth World Conference of the International Ombudsman Institute, held in Stockholm in June 2009, and welcomes the active participation of the Office in all international and regional meetings of the Ombudsman, mediator and other national human rights institutions;

The provision of $20,400 is also proposed for training fees of four staff relating to an advanced conflict-resolution class at the annual conference of the International Ombudsman Association ($6,400) as well as training fees for the two regional Ombudsmen to attend mediation skills training ($14,000).

The meeting was attended by representatives of 64 NHRIs and Ombudsman institutions, as well as by international associations such as the Francophone Association of National Commissions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (Association francophone des commissions nationales de promotion et de protection des droits de l'homme), the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsmen.

222. The Board is actively engaged in combating corruption and censorship in the Sudan, in African States and worldwide, and participates in the activities of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and the African Ombudsman Association (AOMA).

OHCHR participated in the Ninth World Conference of the International Ombudsman Institute, held in Stockholm from 9 to 12 June 2009, and encouraged increased cooperation among regional and international associations of Ombudsmen and national human rights institutions in the context of the Paris Principles, as well as between those institutions and the United Nations system.
