As important mechanisms to strengthen national legal and policy frameworks for the protection of children, I call upon States parties to the Convention and its Optional Protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict to implement recommendations by the Committee on the Rights of the Child and to submit timely reports under the Optional Protocol.
