Mr. Alzayani (Bahrain) said that the fifty-third session of the General Assembly was taking place on the eve of the third millennium and just before the year that would mark the fortieth anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples.
٥٠ - السيد الزياني )البحرين(: قال إن الدورة الثالثة والخمسين للجمعية العامة تنعقد عشية اﻷلفية الثالثة وقبيل السنة التي تصادف الذكرى اﻷربعين لاعتماد إعلان منح الاستقلال للشعوب والبلدان المستعمرة.

379. Mr. Al-Zayani (Bahrain) said that the report had shed light on the deteriorating conditions inside the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

14 - السيد الزياني (البحرين): أثنى على اللجنة الخاصة لتجميع هذا التقرير المفصل عن تدهور حالة حقوق الإنسان في الأراضي المحتلة على الرغم من الافتقار الكامل إلى التعاون من جانب إسرائيل.

47. Mr. Al-Zayani (Bahrain) said that the situation regarding human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories and Syrian Golan Heights and has been steadily worsening.
47 - السيد الزياني (البجرين): قال إن وضع حقوق الإنسان في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة وهضبة الجولان السوري يسوء باستمرار.

2. Mr. Al-Zayani (Bahrain) expressed his Government's condolences to the delegation of the United Arab Emirates.

74. Mr. Al-Zayani (Bahrain) said that information played a very important role in international relations as a means of contact between various peoples, a tool for exchanges of expertise and an excellent means of strengthening cooperation.
٤٧ - السيد الزياني )البحرين(: قال إن اﻹعلام يؤدي دورا بالغ اﻷهمية في العلاقات الدولية بوصفه وسيلة اتصال بين مختلف الشعوب وأداة لتبادل الدراية وسبيلا ممتازا لتوطيد التعاون.

16. Mr. Al-Zayani (Bahrain) said that the Palestinian refugee problem formed an essential part of the question of Palestine, which lay at the heart of the Middle East problem.
١٦ - السيد الزياني )البحرين(: قال إن مشكلة اللاجئين الفلسطينيين هي جزء أساسي من قضية فلسطين التي هي صلب مشكلة الشرق اﻷوسط.

5. Mr. Al-Zayani (Bahrain) said that the year 2000 would mark the fortieth anniversary of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples and the end of the International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism.
٥ - السيد الزياني )البحرين(: قال إنه في عام ٢٠٠٠ ستحل الذكرى اﻷربعون لاعتماد إعلان منح الاستقلال للبلدان والشعوب المستعمرة وسينتهي العقد الدولي للقضاء على الاستعمار.

36. Mr. Al-Zayani (Bahrain) said that the UNRWA Commissioner-General's report had given an idea of the gravity of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the difficulties UNRWA had to face when fulfilling the lofty task assigned it.
36 - السيد الزياني (البحرين): قال إن تقرير المفوض العام للأونروا أعطى فكرة عن خطورة الوضع في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة والمصاعب التي على الأونروا مواجهتها عند الوفاء بالمهام النبيلة الموكلة إليها.

36. Mr. Alzayani (Bahrain) noted that, although the United Nations had been extremely successful, on the whole, in bringing about decolonization there were still a number of Non-Self-Governing Territories awaiting decolonization.
36 - السيد الزياني (البحرين): أشار إلى أن الأمم المتحدة رغم أنها حققت نجاحاً بالغاً في إنهاء الاستعمار، لا يزال هناك عدد من الأقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي تنتظر إنهاء الاستعمار.

32. Mr. Alzayani (Bahrain) said that the Department of Public Information had played an important role in conveying the image of the United Nations to people everywhere and providing information about its activities and the hopes and aspirations of the international community.
32 - السيد الزياني (مملكة البحرين): قال إن إدارة شؤون الإعلام قامت بدور هام في نقل صورة الأمم المتحدة إلى الناس في كل مكان، وفي تقديم المعلومات عن أنشطتها وعن آمال وتطلعات المجتمع الدولي.

45. Mr. Alzayani (Bahrain) said that the work of UNRWA was enabling refugees to obtain the basic services and facilities that they needed.
45 - السيد الزياني (البحرين): قال إن عمل الأونروا يمكّن اللاجئين من الحصول على الخدمات الأساسية والتسهيلات التي يحتاجون إليها.

42. Mr. Al Zayani (Bahrain) said that his delegation commended the efforts made by UNRWA, the Advisory Commission and host States.
42 - السيد الزياني (البحرين): قال إن وفد بلده يثني على الجهود التي تبذلها الأونروا، واللجنة الاستشارية، والدول المضيفة.

28. Ms. Al Zayani (Bahrain) said that while article 5 (b) of the Constitution called on women to reconcile their responsibilities to their families with their roles in public life, that did not mean that the responsibility of child-rearing fell to them alone.
28 - السيدة الزياني (البحرين): قالت إنه على الرغم من أن المادة 5 (ب) من الدستور تدعو النساء إلى التوفيق بين مسؤولياتهن إزاء أسرهن وأدوارهن في الحياة العامة فإن ذلك لا يعني أن مسؤولية تربية الأطفال لا تقع إلا على كاهلهن.

94. Mr. Al-Zayrani (Bahrain) began by thanking those countries that were hosting Palestinian refugees, namely Jordan, the Syrian Arab Republic and Lebanon.
